The William Kaufman Organization prides itself in providing engaging, activated public plazas for its surrounding communities. At 747 Third Avenue, the unique public plaza with its red-tile and yellow brick paving pattern creating undulating berms and rounded wooden seating has been reimagined after 40 years. Echoing the original design, Mojo Stumer Associates has paid homage to the original design concept while modernizing the aesthetic to meld cohesively with the building’s glass and metal façade and new strikingly contemporary front entrance. The public has a choice of seating "pods" that encourage a private moment of serenity or double-sided wooden benches that encourage conversation and engagement. Raised sculptural planting beds are arranged throughout the plaza. A feature green wall incorporated into the front entrance connects the design language of the plaza to the lobby and front entrance. Free Wi-Fi is provided and food trucks are invited to park in the 46th Street loading bay to service the tenants of 747 Third Avenue and its surrounding community.
